![]() So similar to the 4th "virtual knob" sequencing track (available on the 707), it's in this regard that was thinking it may be possible that Roland may be planning on implementing some sort of additional (virtual) "clip" track/channel that just specifically related to Scatter programming.Ĭan user patches still not be saved outside projects? I'm really not sure why the 707 at least "mostly persistently" (not sure it's completely ALWAYS) will read out as having up to 9 free tracks/channels available while only actually allowing for up to 8 to be used and created. You'd mentioned specifically "clips" being used, which among else, could be used to hold more than one Scatter sequence to alternate between (as at present, one can only create 1 lone Scatter sequence). ![]() Scatter will remain active (effecting the last 4 steps of every measure) until it's hit again to toggle it back off. Such all said, one can program a sequence of Scatter designs/pads that only effects the last 4 steps of a measure, set Scatter to it's toggle/latch function, and then simply activate Scatter at the start of a measure. Scatter can be set to only trigger when the Scatter button is actively pressed (when one is in Scatter mode) OR to toggle/latch between being on and off. Each specified granular/scatter design (held on a pad) can be given a specific track/channel on the 707/101 to effect OR told to just follow the master assignment (which can target a specific track/channel OR the master mix out)Ĥ. Each step can trigger/sustain a specified granular/scatter design held on 1 of the 16 pads.ģ. Scatter already has it's own 16 step sequencer (which can run it's own independent clock divisions for the steps)Ģ. I used it to tie a simple repeater to the last four steps, so I could drop in a fill without switching to Scatter mode.1. This can be used to create a bonkers effect sequence or buildup. ![]() These are triggered simply by holding the main Scatter mode button. Like the Aira MX‑1 performance mixer, the new MCs can tie particular Scatter effects to individual steps within a measure. I came across this because i wanted to muck around with the pitch live of a hi hat in a beat ive been writing. It would be clutch to have more extensive control over specific drum sounds in a drum track without having to farm out said drum sound to its own track. I think its an indication of things to come.hopefully. The whole sys ctrl aspect of the "drum engine" remains largely a mystery to me and the reference manual doesn't really touch on it much at all.Oh for sure the recent firmware updates have been stellar.Īs far as i can tell the sys cntrl in drums arent assigned to anything though oddly enough there is an option to increase depth ( or maybe its offset) of said un assigned sys cntrls in the pad edit screen. So I very much get your thought on "is this showing some sort of mod matrix having been planned but not yet fully implemented?" Not just impressive, but they were rather unique to the 707/101 specifically in many ways. The recent architecture additions to the 707/101 were pretty impressive (IMO). With all that, it's an area of the Zen engine, that as best I can understand, remains largely a mystery regarding functional capability. ![]() The whole sys ctrl aspect of the "drum engine" remains largely a mystery to me and the reference manual doesn't really touch on it much at all. So I very much get your thought on "is this showing some sort of mod matrix having been planned but not yet fully implemented?" but not only that, but a "why is this feature here if it doesn't do much of anything but obviously carries some intent to?" (call it the "am i just tarded or is there something I'm missing here?" factor) I may have been doing something wrong, but far as I could tell, it was basically assignments I couldn't meaningfully map to anything. i just couldn't get anything practical to actually occur with the assignments. Such said, the Sys Ctrl for the drums I've had less than stellar results with. I wonder if this means that eventually well get a mod matrix for drum tracks? The recent architecture additions to the 707/101 were pretty impressive (IMO). So i noticed the other day that whilst theres no way to actually assign sys cntrl 1-4 to any parameters of a drum track it is an option under knob assignments.
